Our Story
NYUMBANI, meaning: “At Home” in Swahili, is a modern, mission-driven nonprofit based in Pierce County, Washington. Starting in July, 2025 we will serve all youth and young adults (YYA), ages 16 to 24, who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability:
with a strategic and special focus on Black and Indigenous YYA.
​We are dedicated to creating unique programmatic options that are from the voices of the those with lived experience through: Employement, Surveys, Community Partners, and Focus Groups.

Our Mission
​Provide Youth and Young Adults the opportunity to take control of their own housing needs by equipping them with tools for success including—but not limited to—Community, Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Equity.
We are committed to offering every participant the highest form of:
